Full of Spirit!

I went to visit my brother in the parish he was assigned but for the objective to be able to interview the  Diocesan Youth Director Fr. Levi Mantica. I visited them right before I went on a holiday vacation.

While I was talking to him, I can’t deny that I feel the fullness of the Spirit in him. At the time I was talking to him, I wished and hoped more priests would have his vigor and dedication in his vocation. He is not only full of inspiration and spirit but he sets his goals as a priest and director clearly and truthfully. You could not hear him talking things just generally but for him there’s a clear line for everything to be in proper order and for everyone to properly understand.

Q: In your observation of the World Youth Day in Australia this year, what is the common strength of the Roman Catholic youth?

The affirmation of the Catholic faith we profess— The gathering of the young people in prayer and in professing with our faith, in communion with the Pope is the strongest and highest declaration and position of acknowledging our faith universally. The unity of prayers of these young people who are the hope of our future with the Pope is the most powerful and strongest.

Q: What aspect needs to be strengthened in a Catholic youth?

Part of our faith is its integral formation. The basic doctrines of the Church where the young people do not only pray but have also understood the Church and its stand on the world issues. The Church has its own formation but is only less exposed to the young people who are very depicted with the temptations every second, every minute, every hour of their lives on the street, in school, at home, from media or entertainment.

People blame the Church for society’s problems because of the lack of application of the Church’s teachings. The teachings are an ongoing process. They have to be applied daily in our lives.

Applying the Church’s doctrines and teachings are both responsibilities of the leaders of the church and the people. The leaders’ actions should be louder than their sermons and the people should be open to embrace the truth and the good news for our salvation. It should have been more than the theories and knowing and understanding the Church but making them relevant in our daily lives.

Q: In the World Youth Day, what makes a Filipino youth standout among the other nationalities?

Foreign people ask why Filipino youth in general are happy despite the country’s situation with its poverty, corruption, etc. They question why Filipinos are cheerful and have a positive attitude towards life not only portraying the youth but the Filipino general. Our faith has given us the positive attitude to face life’s difficulties.

Q: As a Diocesan Youth Director, what are your goals?

As a director of the youth ministry in the diocese, my goal is to bring the young people to Jesus Christ and to bring Christ to the young people. It is very general. Basically, what is necessary in our faith? It is bringing the values and virtues of Christianity through apostolate and parishes. Reechoing the activities of the world youth day in the *DADITAMA then through vicariate and parishes then to the apostolate or ministries. It is actually the parish’ responsibility too on how they apply the activities.

*DADITAMA (Davao City, Digos, Tagum, Mati Diocese– the diocese(s) of all the provinces of Davao)

Q: What are your goals as a parish priest?

My goal as a parish priest is to have a basic mission and vision of the parish. This will be the constant guide of the parishioners and the parish itself to fulfill the purpose in general and to be successful in our plans, goals and projects. There should be sets of directions. It is difficult to hit the bull’s eye without a clear and straight direction. There is an existing mission vision of the parish decades ago but was not given such importance. We will use that mission vision statement as a tangible guide to all our projects and goals for this parish.

Q: As a priest, who are your role models?

When I was already in Theology in REMASE. They are my role models, I was like a plant. The first one was the one was like the one who planted in me the motivation for this vocation, the second one was the one who watered and continued to inspire me to this vocation and the third one continued to give me the light. Of course, the first and foremost inspiration is our highest priest the LORD Jesus Christ.

Fr. Magdaleno Ding Fabiosa: He has a strong impact in my priesthood and to my batchmates or classmates. He started to inspire us on our 4th year in college (Philosophy). He continued to inspire our batch when he became one of our professors in REMASE (Regional Major Seminary).

Fr. Felix Labor, he was the one who my SD (Spiritual Director) from 1st yr to 3rd yr. The most crucial part of my ministry was when I was about to go on a regency then he told me to reflect deeply and wait for the retreat.

Fr. Tagle who is a bishop now in Imus Cavite. I always attend his seminars or have in hand an audio record of one of his seminars.

If I were a plant they were the ones who planted me, watered me with inspirations and took care of me spiritually.

Fr. Levi is celebrating his birthday today, Happy birthday father and may you be blessed more!

My favorite Wrestling moves!

5. Clothesline- A clothesline is a move in which one wrestler runs towards another and extends his/her arm out from the side of the body and parallel to the ground, hitting the opponent in the neck or chest and knocking him/her over.

4. STF- The wrestler wraps his arm around the neck of the opponent in a sleeper hold instead of pulling back on the head of the opponent. It is also used by John Cena, who calls it the STFU and is modified with crossed hands and more elevation than the STF.

3. 619- originally the Tiger Feint kick is a move in which a wrestler jumps through the second and top rope while holding on to the ropes, and uses the momentum to swing back around into the ring, This move requires high agility, and is mainly used by smaller wrestlers like Rey Mysterio. 619 is the area code of San Diego, Mysterio’s hometown.

2. Tombstone Piledriver

This variation of a belly-to-belly piledriver refers to any belly-to-belly piledriver that involves the wrestler holding the opponent in a belly-to-belly position, then falling to a kneeling position.

The name “Tombstone Piledriver” was popularized by The Undertaker and later Kane his younger brother. It was also used by Finlay back then. However, the move had been used under many names by other wrestlers years beforehand.

Undertaker hitting the Tombstone Piledriver on Rick Flair.

1. Pedigree- The wrestler bends their opponent forward, placing the opponent’s head between the wrestler’s legs and then applies a double underhook on the opponent. The wrestler then jumps up while tucking their knees causing them to lift their opponent off the mat before landing on their knees, forcing the opponent’s face into the mat. Triple H, the most famous user of this move, would name it the Pedigree during his “Greenwich Snob” gimmick and he still uses it today.

Tripe H ready to perform his famous pedigree!

———————————-

My favorite wrestlers:

4. Randy Orton- though he’s scripted as one of the bad guys in WWE, he has good wrestling skills. One of the best really with convincing acting skills too… I think he had more tattoes now..

3. “the animal’ Batista

Dang… Doesn’t he look soooo good…

2. Triple H which stands for Honey, Hernan and Herman (I wish!) hehehe… Seriously, it stands for Hunter Hearst Helmsley which was the name he used before, years ago. If you are a wrestler fan, you would remember him with the one wearing a suit and bringing a cane and his case. Oh well, I just find it gross when he spits the water from his mouth when he does his intro… He appeared in Blade Trinity, the vampire who carried two vampire dogs too…

before

1. The Undertaker- who doesn’t get intimidated with his famous intro music and the scary look? I bet if you let a 3 year old kid see him, who stands 7 feet tall, like that on the street, the poor kid would be screaming to death in fear…

The Undertaker and his brother Kane.

Did this really happen in Denmark part II

I forwarded the email to my students and one of them (from Germany) replied:

Hello Honey,
yes, this is sad!
But I think there is something wrong with the message.
Faroe Island is an autonomous province of Denmark.
(
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faroe_Islands )
I’ve attached you a PDF Document from google maps.

I think this island is nearer Norway, and Norway is known for disagreeing to the international agreement against whaling.

As you can see, this island is far away from all of the other continents.
Yes, it’s bad, that they are hunting whales and kill them in that way, but I think you must have a look to the whole situation of that island.

They live from the whales and fish, they are hunting and they have no other industry.
Another thing is, that you didn’t know how old these photos are…

warm regards
Birger

I believe forwarded emails are one way of informing people and another way of making things clearer.

When you can keep your head when all about you

are losing theirs and blaming it on you,

if you can trust yourself when all men doubt you

but make allowances for their doubting too,

if you can wait and not be tired by waiting,

or being lied about, don’t deal with lies,

or being hated, don’t give way to hating,

and yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream— and not make dreams your master

if you can think– and not make thoughts your aim;

if you can meet with Triumph and Disaster

and treat these impostors just the same;

if you can bear to hear the truth you’d spoken

twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,

or watch the things you gave your life too, broken,

and stoop and build ‘em with worn out tools:

If you can make one heap of your winnings

and risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,

and lose, and start again at your beginnings

and never breath a word about your loss;

If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew

to serve your turn and long after they’re gone,

and so hold on when there’s nothing in you

except the Will which says to them: “Hold on!”

If you can talk with crowd and keep your virtue,

or walk with kings— nor lose the common touch,

if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;

If all men count with you, but none too much,

if you can fill the unforgiving minute

with sixty-seconds worth of distance run,

yours is the earth and everything that’s in it,

and— which is more— you’ll be a man my son!

Spider-Man 4?

November 3, 2008 by shenmue7754

Columbia pictures is having its final negotiations with another Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright David Lindsay-Abaire to write Spider-man 4.

Same major casts like Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst are expected to return with their director Sam Raimi.

This is not the first time Columbia took a Pulitzer winner for Spider-Man movies since another one Michael Chabon wrote for Spider-Man 2.
“Lindsay-Abaire has said in interviews that his plays tend to be ‘peopled with outsiders in search of clarity,”‘which would put his work on sympathetic terms with Peter Parker, who in his classic incarnation is the perpetual outsider.”
