WWE Cyber Sunday

I was sick since last Thursday and I was not able to wake up early last Monday to watch the entire live wrestling matches.

Good thing there will be a replay tomorrow November 2 on Jack TV.

I was able to watch the last part on Undertaker’s match with Big Show and the good thing is this time the first one won!

The results were great as Triple H won again to defend his belt against Jeff Hardy.

Most of all ‘ the animal’ Batista won and got the new Heavyweight WWE CHampion against Jericho. People get to vote who would be the referee for the match. Steve Austin got it.

Though at the last part, Austin was accidentally knocked out by Batista so next in line was Jericho’s eternal enemy HBK Shawn Michaels. Funny when Batista got knocked out, HBK made the longest count in history of WWE so Jericho did not win. Then JBL came and knocked HBK out. The last in line to referee was the boastful Randy Orton  who came to help Jericho in beating Batista. As the script went by, Steve A. woke up and beat Randy O.

Can’t wait to watch the complete matches tomorrow!

I watched Max Payne and I was not happy about it.

Nothing new…

Nothing suprising…

Mila Kunis make-up was not even good, too much foundation.

Should have watched Eagle Eye instead since I haven’t watched it yet…

That glow: Celebrities with the healthiest, most gorgeous skin

from: healthy living

Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester, Halle Berry, Sandra Oh — who doesn’t want to smile up at a camera with their amazing, glowy skin? While I ponder the fantasy of having the caramel loveliness of Eva Mendes one day and the scrubby-clean fair skin of Reese Witherspoon the next, perhaps it’s time to get working on making my own face a little more camera-ready.

We’ve all read the tips for making our skin look great a thousand times. And we’ve all had countless conversations with our girlfriends, mothers, the make-up counter clerk, the nice lady at Starbucks about how to finally get our faces in beautiful shape. What could we possible learn by hearing it all again?

Maybe nothing. But maybe this will be the one time we take some steps to make our skin feel healthier and look phenomenal. With that hope and with some inspirational photos of the women in Hollywood with the most gorgeous skin, here are some no-duh tips that we’ve never quite gotten around to implementing but still, just make good sense:

1. Sleep on it. You know how your face feels sucked dry after one of those too fun, late-late nights? Or how ragged you felt the first year after you were up every hour with your new baby? You’re not just feeling the effects of a lack of sleep, they are also showing up on your skin. There’s really no other way around making this kind of investment in your skin’s health other than setting a bedtime and sticking to it. You might not see the results in the morning, but wait until that 20th high school reunion, friend. It will all be revealed then.

2. Hydrate it. Yeah yeah yeah, there’s always going to be some debate about how much water you should be drinking. No matter where you side on the four glasses vs. eight glasses debate, just drink up! You will feel more alert, which means you will look more alert. Don’t be afraid to serve up your skin a nice cocktail of moisturizer, too. If you’re really feeling radical (or parched, either way), take a day off of make-up altogether and go on a little water-drinking, moisturizer bender. Think how perked up and pretty your skin will look after all that self-care.

3. Feed it. If you’re going to eat for energy, longevity and to keep up with your busy days, why not also eat for fabulous skin? Making small adjustments — like adding a cup of green tea to your nightly ritual or using sunflower oil in your stirfry– might do as much or more for your skin’s glow as all the products on your bathroom counter.

4. Protect it. I admit that as the seasons change, I have a bad and unconscious habit of stowing the sunscreen away as soon as I pack up my sandals. The reality is that we can still get loads of exposure to harmful UVA and UVB rays when it is cloudy and we do need the protection of sunscreen all year round. The two seconds it takes to slather on a bit of block means you will be guarding your skin from sunburns today and from cancer, wrinkles and sunspots in the years to come. And hello! Have you seen Nicole Kidman’s porcelain skin? It’s gorgeous, even under that giant hat and what has to be a pint of sunscreen.

5. Gently address the sins of your skin past. Acne scars, sun damage and other skin ickiness is a reality for most of our faces. Sure, I’d love to have the baby-soft, wrinkle-free skin of my 20s, but no product, nap or gallon of water is going to make that happen magically. Rather than worry too much about the little flaws (the worrying, by the way, causes me to make one of those scrunched up faces that cannot exactly be erasing the little lines, can it?), be kind to the body you have now. See a dermatologist (who doesn’t yell — sometimes a trick to find), try some gentle products that will fade scars, clear up dark circles and banish the blemishes making an appearance now. Healing will happen and in the meantime, use a bit of concealer until it’s all sorted out.

A Girl Like Me: The Gwen Araujo Story

I was touched by the story and I can’t help but understand how each of the main characters felt and struggled with the issue of homosexuality: mother, Gwen, friends, family, the boyfriend and the judgemental people in the society.

A true story of a young transgendered teen who was born Eddie Araujo but changed her name into Gwen. As a young boy, he would wear his mother’s make-up and wear dresses but his mother thought it was just a phase a lot of kids go through though she found it odd. In highschool, he got the support and love from his mother and older sister and soon with the rest of the extended family. The mother left the abusive father and raised all three kids on her own.

When he was in highschool, he changed her name into Gwen and lived a life of a teenage girl. She fell in love with a man whom she dated for nine (9) months who was not aware of her gender because they were not enganged into sex. Her usual reasons was she was still a virgin and was not yet ready for it. The mother who does not want Gwen to get hurt confronted the boyfriend which led to their breakup and Gwen into partying, alcohol,  and oral sex with different boys.

Eddie Araujo was brutally killed at the age of 17 by the hands of three (3) teenage boys after they discovered that she was male. Thye beated her for 5 hours, tied then buried her. Two of them were arrested of second-degree murder, the other one of manslaughter. However, none of them were convicted by the judge and the jury.

Cooking German Beef Roulade!

My German student and friend Birger who is working in the I.T. department of a company at the same time has a business of his own shared some of the common German recipes. One of them is the German Beef Roulade.

Ingredients:

beef flank steak

German mustard or Dijon mustard, will do

bacon, diced

 onion

 dill pickles

 flour

 beef broth

*** I substituted honey for mustard…

Directions

  1. 1

With meat mallet or rolling pin, flatten meat to about a 10×8 rectangle.

  2. 2

Spread with mustard (or in my case with honey).

  3. 3

In large skillet on medium high heat, cook bacon and onion til bacon is crisp.

  4. 4

Pour off fat reserving 1/4 cup in skillet.

  5. 5

    Spread bacon mix over meat.

  6. 6

    Sprinkle pickle on top.

  7. 7

Roll up meat from short end and secure with string or turkey pins.

  8. 8

Place meat roll in skillet over medium high heat in reserved bacon fat and brown on all sides.

  9. 9

    Remove to 13×9 baking dish.

  10. 10

Stir flour into fat in skillet and blend until smooth, gradually stirring in beef broth.

  11. 11

Cook and stir over medium heat until thickened.

  12. 12

    Pour sauce over beef roll.

  13. 13

Cover and bake at 325 degrees for 1 1/2 hours or until done.

  14. 14

Let stand 10 minutes before slicing.

  15. 15

Skim fat from sauce, strain and serve with meat.

I burnt the sauce so as with Birger’s advice, I mixed the fat oil, red wine and milk as sauce. It was perfect!

It’s supposed to look like these:

However, I got bad shots of my beef roulade but tastes really great! My family loved it!

Here are my pictures:

10 minute interview with Fr. Rico!

October 4, 2008 by shenmue7754

I had the privilege to interview our gentle, soft-spoken and humble Parish Priest Fr. Rico for 10 minutes (or more I think so…) He is my first feature in this blog! Why? Basically because the best article I wrote in Ang Magsasangyaw (a local parish-based newsletter) a few years ago, which was also published in another Catholic publication, was inspired by one of his sermons and reflections.

How do you prepare for your sermons/homilies?

The preparations is I read the Gospel, the delivery is based from my own experience combined with reflection of the message of the Gospel . The preparation starts with prayers, reflection, meditation and contemplation and to listen to the promptings of the Holy Spirit. I start with what struck me most and  develop or focus on one topic or issue for the reflection.

When was the last time you attended a mass where you were not the one officiating it?

* The Presbyterium meeting…

(…and during ordination time, right?)

Yes… and during my seminary years I attended mass when I am free like I have no mass schedules or I was the co-celebrant in the mass.

What was the foremost thing you missed doing since you’ve become a priest?

Being with my close friends and going out with them anytime because I spend my time now with my ministry.

What is your greatest fear?

My greatest fear is the fear of God, the holy fear. That’s how I view fear, not more with we are put into damnation because for me with God, we are all saved and it depends on each person on how he accepts His salvation. My fear is more about the consequences of my actions if I commit sins. If I commit sins, I must face the consequences.

Aside from your ministry, what keeps you busy?

I engaged into sports activities like tennis and basketball. I also spend most of my spare time with the other priests.

What is your greatest weakness?

For me, my weakness is my emotional struggles but my greatest is my own limitations in handling temptations. Also, I am a mediocre person, I can engage and involve in a lot of activities but I do not really excel in any aspect based on my own observation.

What is your greatest personal desire?

To be constant in my priestly life, to live a holy life. I may not acquire it perfectly but I am doing my best for it.

What makes you cry?

Loss of loved ones… the last time I cried was when there was a family issue like a misunderstanding within the family members…

Does people’s attention annoy or flatter you? Do people’s criticisms affect you or do you ignore them?

For me, criticisms are means to grow. Whether I like it or not, I cannot please everyone so I see it as my means to grow and develop.

(Did it ever occur for an instance that you got really pissed with a criticism?)

I am the type of person who is not sensitive with criticisms. For me, we cannot control how people is impressed by what we do, we cannot control what they have observed about me and they are entitled to it, so it is my way of evaluating myself too and make a room for improvement and growth.

When people give too much attention to me, I always remind myself, this is not because of my personality or achievements but because I am a priest, a servant of God. Humans as we are, we long for support from people around us, so I look at it in a positive way because their attention gives friendship , strength and encouragement to me.

Describe Fr. Rico in one word…

SIMPLE

(my life as a priest is to fulfill my purpose to serve God the best that I can.)

(Nothing is left unsaid, what you read in this blog is totally what you see and observe Fr. Rico as a person, humble and sincere in his vocation as a servant of God. Then I realized, we do not need to be geniuses to excel in any aspects or of in any corners of the world, the humility, sincerity and love of life and the faith that we profess will excel us over the world!)

* Presbyterium meeting of Diocesan of Tagum is every last Tuesday of the month where all the priests under the diocesan gather altogether.

Samal!

Last Wednesday, I opted to take a day-off and went to Samal to visit the beautiful private beach resort of the Lacia Family.

It was indeed very beautiful though they were not yet done developing it. I want to go back in there again however climbing up to the road is too torturous for me. I almost lost consciousness. Good thing Mrs. Rosa Amada Cainglet (kelangan full name?! hehehe) Te Claudette Clemente, Dondon and Te Tessie Interino were there to keep me counscious.

I collected a lot of beautiful pebbles from the seashore. I also had the chance to paddle on a small boaty with Yamyam and Janjan before swimming for more than 3 hours straight!

Anyway, here are some of the pictures…

Going to Samal (Barge around past 5am)

Yamyam Lacia driving in Samal to their private beach resort… It was very foggy…

The kids and their horse…

At Lacia Family’s private beach resort…

Looking up from the road…

An unfinished bungalow…

The long winding steps… too high i guess i was not able to get a good picture of it…
